Pope Francis states the true nature of human trafficking when he said “This is a true form of slavery, unfortunately increasingly common, which affects every land, even the most developed, and which affects the most vulnerable people in society: women, children, the disabled, the poorest and those who come from situations of family or social disintegration”. What can we do?
Here are some options:
- Inform ourselves. Look up websites about human trafficking
- Get involved with the United Nations Blue Heart campaign against human trafficking
- Join in praying about this issue, for example, Psalm 126 or other prayers related to this issue or from your own heart.
What does it mean to us as RSCJ?
Our Constitutions say: “The pierced Heart of Jesus opens our being to the depths of God and to the anguish of humankind.” (#8)
Clare Pratt in an address to the 2007 Canadian Association of Sacred Heart Alumnae Conference in Halifax said, “RSCJs are giving their lives in love, trying to be attentive to where the piercing of the heart is taking place”.
