Laudato Si' Week: 16-24 May

6 May 2020

Dear Sisters and Family of the Sacred Heart,

We received this invitation yesterday from Pope Francis and we want to share this with you, our extended community.  Perhaps participating in this opportunity could be a way of preparing for the feast of Sophie.

Right now we starkly recognize that our common home is threatened on so many levels and the message of Laudato Si' is even more prophetic.

As we prepare to celebrate Sophie’s day, we might remember that our charism and mission, to discover and make known the love of Jesus Christ, surged out of a moment of societal crisis.

Let’s ask ourselves how this present moment is calling us to live this charism and mission, to contribute in our small way to our common home, with new depth and energy.

May Sophie and Francis accompany us.

With love and prayer,

Dear friend,

We’re living through historic times as the coronavirus pandemic turns our world upside down. But Laudato Si’ teaches us how to build a better world–together. Pope Francis has invited Catholics everywhere to participate in Laudato Si’ Week, 16-24 May. We’re coming together as a Catholic family to reflect, pray, and prepare for a more just and sustainable tomorrow.

Sign up for Laudato Si' Week

The Forum of Catholic-inspired NGOs is a leading partner in this global initiative and we are happy to invite you to stand with us and Catholics all around the world as we grow through the crisis of this moment to build a better world together.

Laudato Si’ teaches us that “everything is connected.” Join our brothers and sisters in faith for Laudato Si’ Week to build on our precious connections to each other and all creation.

After you register, be sure to mark your calendar for these important dates:

  • 16-23 May: Reflect and prepare through online trainings
  • 24 May: Participate in a worldwide day of prayer to mark the fifth anniversary of Laudato Si’

This moment has challenged us, but in challenging times we stand on the certainty of our faith.

We invite you to accept the invitation of Pope Francis and join us and the Catholic family as we reflect, pray, and prepare together during Laudato Si’ Week.  Join in here.

In faith,  Cecilia Dall'Oglio
