Nancy Ghio RSCJ (USC) shares this miraculous story of her cousin and Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat:

My cousin and his wife have a daughter, Alice.  When she was 3 or 4 years old, she was in the hospital and was very seriously ill. The doctor told her parents she might not have much longer to live.

The parents called me with this information and I sent a second class relic of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat for Alice.

The next morning, Alice greeted her astonished parents like an excited little girl saying, “Daddy, Nancy came to see me last night. She stood over me and smiled.”

Our religious order was still cloistered at the time and I had not been there that night. Alice’s parents often brought her on visiting day, so she was familiar with the habit and played with my side beads, so it was understandable for her to think it was me.

I do believe it was Saint Madeleine Sophie blessing her.

Alice was released from the hospital. The medical problem that they had “found” was no longer there.

Now, 60 years later, Alice is a very happy grandmother.
