Like one-third of world citizens, a few weeks behind Italy, we are isolated in Belgium, in France, and in the Netherlands. Our elder sisters are in their rooms in nursing homes in Brussels, La Hulpe, Poitiers, Lyon, and Montpellier. Most of us are in our communities where the reality of the pandemic has shaken up the "routine" and added another layer to everyday activities.

This is how we are since the March 10 health tsunami. The disease started in Kinshasa through people arriving from abroad: France, Belgium, USA; and then it spread among the population. Kinshasa is the third largest megalopolis in Africa, with 12 and a half million inhabitants who live mostly in unhealthy cities. The situation is worsening because 15 days ago, there were three cases; but this has now gone up to 45 -- and that is a lot. To date, one person has been cured, and three have died.

I hope you are all fine, with the Central Team recovering from their epic journey home! Thank you, Barb, for encouraging us as One Body to share news of each other, across the Society. I was actually already thinking of sending our modest newsletter beyond the ASIANZ group, because I was feeling this need to know how all our sisters are doing.

Greetings to everyone and praying that all of you are free of the virus. Here in Malta the rscj are all safe, though we are all confined indoors, as all the elderly are.
