The Sacred Heart Spiritual Tradition
This magnificat was written by Jimena O'Neill rscj (ARU). On this feast of Mater Admirabilis (October 20), we share her song of joy, her renewal of commitment, her gratitude for our vocation in the Society of the Sacred Heart.
The Feast of the Sacred Heart, which we celebrate on June 8 this year, is the day we celebrate the core of our charism and, as Religious of the Sacred Heart, renew our commitment to our life and mission.
For the feasts of Saint Madeleine Sophie (May 25th) and the Sacred Heart (June 8th), Superior General, Sister Barbara Dawson, sends us this letter with much love, prayer, and greetings.
On May 25th we gratefully celebrate the Feast of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, the foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart: a woman of God for the world.
Her life was made of threads woven by the Hand and Love of God….

Thanks to Madeleine Sophie and her companions, the Society of the Sacred Heart came into being on November 21, 1800.
In honor of the 200th anniversary of Philippine’s act of courage and conviction, on November 18, 2017, the Society launches two important and interconnected opportunities for RSCJ and the whole Sacred Heart family.
October 20 is the feast of Mater Admirabilis. We offer two points for our prayer and reflection.
