Where you break through the walls that fear raised high....
With the possible exception of Martha, as in “Mary has chosen the better part,” I suspect there is no scriptural character more misunderstood than the Apostle Thomas.
“Doubting Thomas” we’ve called him and all his spiritual progeny down through the ages because Thomas lived by the adage “seeing is believing” and because he looked for certain tangible signs to shore up his belief.
I’d like to challenge this characterization of Thomas!
What can my being hope, or your, or yours?
So all our lifetime is spent in hoping it.
On the morning of the first day of the week, fear kept the disciples locked up in the Supper Room, but the women who had followed Jesus did not seek to escape, though their hopes were dashed. They set out "while it was still dark" and "came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared" (Lk 24:1) in an attempt to snatch from death something of its victory.
