Cecile Meijer receives an honorary degree from the University of Roehampton

Congratulations to Cecile Meijer rscj,
our NGO representative to the United Nations!

On March 16, 2016, the University of Roehampton in London, England, which celebrates its 175th anniversary, conferred on Cecile the award of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, in recognition of her support of social development and human rights.

Needless to say that this recognition is an honor for Cecile and our NGO Office at the United Nations, but also for all of us in the Society of the Sacred Heart.  In her acceptance speech, Cecile said:  "When I received the Vice-Chancellor’s invitation to accept an honorary degree from the University of Roehampton I was stunned, but upon reflection realized that I indeed could accept this great honor because of the fantastic work of my sisters in 41 countries.

Congratulations once again, Cecile, and thank you for sharing this honor with all of us!
