The outgoing General Council, the Mother House Community, the Villa Lante Community and the staff of both met at the Mother House on the morning of Friday, November 29, 2024, to have brunch together and to celebrate their years of working together. After greeting each other, Barbara Dawson thanked everyone for their hard work, which drew applause as well as an occasional tear. As she put it:
Thank you for working to create community among yourselves — like a blended family, coming from the Mother House, from the archives, the Italian province, RSCJ coming from different parts of the world to form a community…
Thank you for serving the global community, especially those who share our mission for the sake of God’s people…
We have lived through hard times and good times, and we are all better, richer, and maybe holier because of these last eight years.
Afterwards, the staff and communities enjoyed catching up over sweet and savory pastries from a local bakery and made a toast to their future journeys.
