On June 27, 2025, the Community and staff at the Mother House held a strawberry ceremony to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This ceremony was inspired by Ojibwe and Mohawk Grandmothers in North America, with whom Sheila has worked in the past. The teachings of the strawberry, or “O-day’-min (heart berry) were read and then Sheila passed around the strawberries, which we all ate at the same time to represent our togetherness on this special day. Claire, Ananda and Paqui, who are visiting the provinces at the moment, were very much missed!
The heart berry helps us understand the connection between the mind, body, spirit, and emotions. We need our heart to guide us in order to maintain personal balance.
