The multiplication of the loaves during a pandemic

Dear Sisters,

Listening to the Gospel of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, I began to think about how RSCJ have fulfilled the request of Jesus to “give them something to eat”, though this time it was not about satisfying the hunger for bread, but rather the need to provide that other fundamental food for the life of every person, one which is denied to the least fortunate: education. And so, they multiplied the Zoom accounts. I think of all the people who have benefitted: students, fathers, mothers, parents, guardians, teachers, tutors, friends, etc. There are thousands (I dare to believe that there are more than five thousand now, including women). We have been able to reach out with our “daily bread and fish” to children, adolescents and young people, who are educated in the institutions of the Sacred Heart. Just as Jesus said, we gather all that remains of our daily work to keep it in our hearts (and on our drives), which, when shared with our other companions, will serve as food and encouragement in our educational mission. A hug, and God bless you.
