A brief explanation of the project:

UN TECHO CON CORAZÓN – BUILDING HOUSES WITH A HEART

About thirty million people live in extreme poverty in Mexico, it means they have an income of less than a dollar a day. Many times, they live in houses made out of cardboard and tin.

Seven years ago, The Sacred Heart School community, decided to join TECHO and build together houses that imply a more dignifying standard of living for people in extreme poverty. Our goals are:

  • To build emergency houses for people in extreme poverty
  • Stablish a bonding relationship with the benefited community, in order to start social projects that will impact education and health, and, therefore, improve the standards of living
  • Helping teachers, students and parents to be aware of the reality we live in and educate young people compromised with the transformation of their society.
  • Involve ourselves in projects that imply fund raising and find creative ways to achieve our goal.

How do we get the money needed?

  • Recycling. We receive money for wrappings sometimes considered waste!
  • Selling chocolates with the help of all the school.
  • Buying fair trade bracelets
  • Or, with the help of donations

This year we hope to build 14 houses… to change the reality of 14 families.
