The Generalate of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is made up of the Superior General and her Council, as well as different teams and commissions that support her to further the unity and vitality of the Congregation in the service of the Gospel. Our motto is: To the greater glory of the Heart of Jesus

The Superior General

Superior General

The Superior General is elected for a term of eight years by the General Chapter and governs the Society of the Sacred Heart together with the General Council and other governing bodies, according to our Constitutions and discerning the signs of the times in the light of the Word of God. She is also the General Council link person for Probation (with Marie-Jeanne Elonga), for the Secretariat Office (with Anne Corry), with the Finance Team and Investment Committee, the International Planning Commission, and the provinces of CEU and Malta.

The General Council

The Superior General governs with the help of four councilors. With them, she forms a discerning community at the service of the Society’s mission.

Anne Corry from New Zealand, is the Canonical Secretary General, as well as the General Council link person for the European Region, and for the provinces of England/Wales, Ireland/Scotland, Poland, Congo/Chad and United States/Canada.
She is also the General Council link for the International Novitiate in Chicago, the Secretariat Office (with Barbara Dawson), the General Archives, the International Publications Committee, the Ongoing Formation team and the Villa Lante Project.

Marie-Jeanne Elonga, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the link person for the African Region, and for the provinces of Argentina/Uruguay, Belgium/ France/ Netherlands, Egypt, Spain, Italy and Mexico. She is also the link for the International Novitiate in Congo, the International Commissions of Education and of Vocations, and for Probation (with Barbara Dawson).

Daphne Sequeira, from India, is the link person for the ASIANZ Region, and for the provinces of Australia/New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Korea/Chinese, Philippines, and Uganda/Kenya. She is also the link for the International Novitiate in the Philippines, the JPIC International Team and the International Volunteer Commission.


Monica Esquivel, from Mexico, is the link with the Philippine Duchesne Region (the Americas), and for the provinces of Antilles, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Peru and Venezuela. She is also the link for the International Communications Team.

Community

Gathered together in community in the name of Jesus Christ, we are sent to proclaim, by our very lives and activities, the Good News of the Kingdom. From His Heart we draw the love which enables us to live in communion, among ourselves and with others. Whatever the service entrusted to us, we stand together, united in our common mission. The Mother House community in Rome is comprised of eight Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (RSCJ) from different parts of the world.

The Mother House is a unique space, often expanding and welcoming others for various international commission and team meetings throughout the year.
