Happy Feast of St. Madeleine Sophie from Japan!

Ikiko Horiguchi rscj watercolor

To celebrate the Feast of Madeleine Sophie, Ikiko Horiguchi rscj and Machino Okizaki rscj have created these photos, paintings and calligraphy. As we honor Madeleine Sophie, we sing: “Leaves are shining with new life, awakened by God’s LOVE.”

The photo of green leaves, taken by Ikiko Horiguchi rscj, represents the multiple manifestations of new life and beauty in May, here in Tokyo, Japan, where we celebrate Sophie’s feast. In the watercolor paintings, also by Ikiko Horiguchi rscj, the red color of the camellia flower symbolizes burning love. Red and yellow roses, cared for in our garden, symbolize our participation in the beauty of nature, created by God, and our thanks to Him.

The brush-painting calligraphy is created by Machino Okizaki, rscj. The character of the calligraphy is love, because behind the beauty of nature is God’s love.
