On October 18, the relic of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, previously preserved in the Sacred Heart community in Bregenz, Austria, was solemnly placed in one of the parish churches in Budapest, Pestújhely. Some time ago, the parish priest in Budapest, Father Tamás Almásy, noticed a fresco in the sanctuary, and he discovered that it was of St. Madeleine-Sophie. He began to research the relationship between the order and the church. During his study of the history of the church, he found the answer: in 1919, during the Soviet Republic, the church was persecuted by the communist revolutionaries, and some of the sisters from one of the communities in Budapest received refuge in Pestújhely. The sisters had such a good relationship with the locals that the parish commemorated St. Madeleine-Sophie when the church was built, by making a place for her in the fresco of the main altar. Building on this, Fr. Tamás Almásy requested a relic from the Religious of the Sacred Heart, so that she may always be venerated by the parisioners.
