A prayer has been written for the celebration of the Bicentennial of Rose Philippine Duchesne.

As we prepare for the feast of Philippine Duchesne on November 18, these extracts from a letter and conference of Helen McLaughlin rscj (Superior General in the year of Philippine’s canonization) invite us to reflect: What is Philippine trying to communicate to us today?

Inspired by the calls from the General Chapter, our 96-year-old Sister Florencia de la Serna (ARU) composed this prayer to Mater Admirabilis.

On November 21, the Society of the Sacred Heart celebrates its 215th anniversary. These excerpts chosen by Juliet Mousseau rscj (USC) from Madeleine’s Sophie’s conference reminds us of the “excellence, utility, and joy” of our vocation.

… she spent her days before the Great Fire, and warmed them all with the Flame that consumed her. And they saw the Fire in her eyes when she looked at them. And they felt the Fire in her trembling old hands…. They called her “The Woman Who Always Prays.”

On October 20, we celebrate the feast of Mater Admirabilis. This prayer by Marie-Therese de Lescure rscj invites us to ask Mater to “give us the singleness of vision so that we, too, may see the Invisible and Essential in all.”
