Here in the USC Province, as in the rest of the world, we are all doing our best to “flatten the curve” by staying at home (except for food shopping and essential medical appointments) and we are staying 6-feet away from others when we do have to go out. To date, no RSCJ has tested positive but there have been cases of Covid-19 among family members in our school communities. All our Network schools are offering classes online and almost all educational institutions are doing the same.
The states Washington and California and the cities of New Orleans and New York seem to be the areas where confirmed cases of coronavirus are increasing rapidly, but there have been cases in all 50 states and Canada.
The Provincial Team has been busy addressing the needs of all those who depend on us, particularly our elderly sisters and the staff who care for them . We are also trying to keep the membership engaged in preparing for the Chapter this summer, working on our strategic plan and many other projects that continue to move forward via Zoom and Vidyo.
Members of the Province have found creative ways to stay in touch and encourage one another during this strange and stressful time. Provincial Office staff gather for virtual “Happy Hours” just to say hello every few days; a new committee, calling itself the “Heart Response Team,” has gathered by Zoom to prepare prayers, music, and other helpful resources that are being posted on the Webpage (see “Revealing God’s Love in the Midst of Uncertainty”); the Mass at Oakwood at which Be Mardel celebrated 80 of being an RSCJ was recorded and sent out to the whole Sacred Heart family.
Please pray for all those in the medical professions, including researchers, who are putting their lives on the line for us. May we all stay connected and hope- filled during these days.
