Chapter 1988, Rome

Reverence and responsibility for creation       (Pat Thro RSCJ)

“We on the earth participate in the evolution of the universe. We, with the earth, are evolving together. What enlivens the earth enlivens us. What vitalizes us gives life to the earth. Our attitude must be one of mutual inter-relatedness which requires from us discipline and ever greater sensitivity to the goal of evolution in which we are engaged. It is this attentiveness to our mutual evolution in our universe which will allow a glorious future for our earth and a role for us in its making. This new imagery can give us a new reverence and responsibility for all of creation because through it we understand the movement of God as energy at the heart of the universe.”
