On April 16, 2026, an official decree was issued recognizing Sophie Barat Education as a Pious Autonomous Canonical Foundation. This recognition is an important milestone for the Society and for our international education networks, and the culmination of a long journey of discernment within the Church and among the educational communities of Belgium, France, Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Chad.
The foundation expresses the charism of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat through the “Pedagogy of the Heart,” which seeks to discover and reveal the love of the heart of Jesus through the service of education, fostering internal transformation, helping individuals learn to love by knowing they are loved, and accompanying each student in developing their full talents to serve the transformation of the world.
