On September 6, 2022, the Province of DRC-Chad welcomed postulants from Uganda-Kenya. It was a great joy to see these three young women, Consolata Chemutai, Christine Nakiyaga and Annemartha Wafula, accompanied by Sister Redempta, cross the borders of the neighboring province for an enriching experience.
These young postulants, still at the beginning of their formation to religious life, agreed to leave their families to reach a new frontier, as one of the calls of our 2016 General Chapter states. That chapter invited us to go out, to embark as a Society and with others, towards new geographical and existential frontiers. We can only give thanks to the Lord and wish them a good stay in Kinshasa.
The reason they have set foot on our Congolese soil is to learn the French language, which will allow them to communicate and collaborate with others during the novitiate of the African region.
“The house that welcomes is a blessed house,” they say. Yes, we are blessed, and we are very proud of it. This is why we welcome them with open arms, saying to them with our welcome song: “Esengo tomonani, topesi bino mbote, alleluia, toyambi bino”; which means: “Happy to meet you alleluia, we greet you and welcome you”.
May the name of the Lord, who wants us to become One Body, be praised forever.
