As we prepare to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and enter into Jesus’s pierced Heart, we invite all of us to pray the Novena of Confidence from June 2 to 10, for our suffering world, for our loved ones and for ourselves.
On October 17, 1801 in Amiens, Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat and two companions founded the first Community and first School of the Society of the Sacred Heart, officially founded on November 21, 1800 in Paris, in rue de Touraine (Maison Duval).
Our Superior General, Barbara Dawson, gave a reading at the Easter Sunday Mass celebrated by Pope Francis, held at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Contemplating Jesus gives us the courage we need to relate to people with His attitudes of humility, empathy and compassion. It is in prayer, and in action, that we come to Him with everything that touches our hearts.
As we prepare to celebrate the Easter Vigil, Sister Barbara Dawson and the General Council send us their hope, prayer, and blessing.
It’s now been five months since renovations began at the Villa Lante and a number of important preparatory tasks have been accomplished.
Over the next two years, the Province of Italy and the International Society will undertake a project together to renovate the Villa Lante. The renovated Villa Lante will continue to provide a space for formation and expand its possibilities so that it can be an added support for the mission of the Society internationally.
The sixteenth-century Villa Lante in Trastevere is one of the Society’s most historically significant buildings. For nearly two centuries, it has been a place where the Sacred Heart sisters have retraced Madeleine Sophie’s footsteps. Learn more about its design and history here.
Blessings on the Feast of the Sacred Heart (June 19, 2020)! Here is a collection of reflections, greetings, and celebrations.
June 19 is the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
